Title of Project: Audience of the Future: Wallace and Gromit
Name of Researcher: Bronwin Patrickson
What is the purpose of the project?
The purpose of this study is to better understand the context and practice of audience engagement with Wallace and Gromit media via emerging mobile and augmented reality technologies and related public events, as well as the ways that the research and development team can support those practices.
Why have I been invited to take part?
As a member of the public, or an active participant in these events, your insights regarding these creative applications and public events will be helpful to this research project.
Do I have to take part?
It is up to you to decide individually whether or not to take part in this study.
You can withdraw from the research project at any time prior to the public dissemination of the study without any repercussion. You do not have to give a reason.
What do I have to do?/ What will happen to me if I take part?
Your participation will be recorded using audio-visual technologies such as a video camera. You may also be asked a few questions about your experience of this event, and your answers will similarly be recorded.
What are the possible disadvantages and risks of taking part?
Any risks involved in physically taking part in this study are likely to be minimal. The interview can be conducted in a safe place away from traffic. Please be advised that any recordings may be publicly broadcast online both locally and internationally, through social media, a project website and related research publications.
What are the possible benefits of taking part?
By taking part in this project you will have the opportunity to help advance knowledge about creative innovation and collaboration practices within the U.K’s creative industries.
Will my taking part in this project be kept confidential? What will happen to the results of the research project?
As you are being recorded using audio-visual technologies, you are likely to be identified if any excerpts of this recording are included in related reports and publications. If you do not wish to be named, or identified, transcripts of anything you say will only be shared once all identifying information is removed.
Prior to publication, any electronic data such as interview recordings and transcripts will be stored in password protected portable devices, accessed by a password protected secure network location allocated to myself at the university. This access is also password protected through a secure log-in which matches the on-site process. This data will be stored for a maximum of twelve months. Your contact details will not be used. If you opt to be informed about future publication of this material, your contact details will initially be kept on a private folder on my encrypted, password protected laptop and discarded once no longer required.
Please be aware that if we become aware of potential criminal activity, or physical harm, or abuse or any situations during the course of the research study that require official reporting, It may not be possible to safeguard confidentiality of the data.
It is expected that the study will be published in an online report and peer reviewed journals.
What sort of information will be sought from me and why is the collection of this information relevant for achieving the research project’s objectives?
You will be asked to reflect upon your knowledge of the creative use of mobile technologies in media and related events.
